2008-08-27打開e-mail files，看到朋友寄來一封天文奇觀的消息:2 moons in the sky。看看時間，正好是當下，連忙下樓去仰望天空之滿月，怪怪，火星很小啊，是不是又是一個internet or e-mail hoax， 上樓回電腦桌作功課google一下，果然被騙。

27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for.............

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate(錯字) on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles off earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am. It will look like the earth has 2 moons.

The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

2003-07 開始有一e-mail 在網路流傳，內容幾乎與上面這封大同小異，那一年火星的確是近60000年來最靠近地球(相距56百萬公里)，而最高潮(culminate)、最靠近地球就是在2003-08-27，那時在天空火星比平時大6倍，亮85倍，如果用75倍的望遠鏡看，幾乎與月亮同大。

2005-10 火星又一次靠近地球

2007-07 同樣的e-mail又流傳，而culminate這字變成cultivate(耕作、培養、結交)，這一年火星也很靠近地球，但是在2007-12，約離88百萬公里。

2018火星離地球最近距離又會接近2003-08-27的55百萬公里，不用等到2287。
